DuPage Symphony Orchestra Concert

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) celebrates the music of Sergei Prokofiev, featuring excerpts from his ballet "Romeo and Juliet," followed by “Kije’s Wedding” and the “Troika” from "Lt. Kije." The second half of the program offers the score from Sergei Eisenstein’s 1938 film "Alexander Nevsky." The Naperville Chorus and the North Central College Concert Choir, both under the direction of Jeordano Martinez, join the DSO for the presentation of
this cantata. Mezzo-soprano Jessye Wright performs the sixth-movement solo, “In the Field of the Dead.”

The program is repeated at 3 p.m. Feb. 13. These concerts are part of the 2010-2011 Soviet Arts Experience Festival, a collaboration involving major cultural institutions in the Chicago area, and represent the only festival events taking place in the Western suburbs.

The  concerts also provide a special opportunity for DuPage County service clubs and their members. As a thank you to community members who volunteer their time, energy and expertise to such organizations, the DSO is offering tickets at a 25% discount to service club members who call the DSO office at 630-778-1003 to place their ticket order. For those service organizations that purchase 25 or more tickets, the DSO will provide that club with a display table in the
Wentz Hall lobby so that their organization can promote its activities and achievements to the concert audience, both before each performance and during intermission.
