Live Music with Jack Wilson

SATURDAY, JUNE 30, 8 p.m. - Performing at New Vintage is Jack Wilson, an instrumental fingerstyle guitarist from the Chicago land area. He has been playing for over 30 years. He has been formally trained in music as a Jazz and Classical guitar major at the American Conservatory of Music and at Triton College. His fingerstyle repertoire includes music from Pop/Rock, R&B, Country, Classical, Jazz, Latin and Blues. He has many influences but a few of his fingerstyle influences are Jerry Reed, Merle Travis, Joe Pass, Tuck Andress, Martin Taylor, John Williams and Paco Delucia. His style varies from playing traditional and unorthodox arrangements. He is known for incorporating unusual techniques to mimic parts of a song. He is often asked on how he gets the cowbell sound out of the guitar when he performs “Low Rider” by War. He also incorporates a looping pedal for an occasional background part as well as sing an occasional vocal tune to add another dimension to his performance.
