Ragtime Concert with Bob Milne

The St. Cletus Fine Arts Series presents a Ragtime Concert to benefit the Gulu, Uganda Maternity Clinic.

About The Ministry Project of Uganda
Since 2008, The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet have been providing education classes and child care services, worked in health clinics, and began training catechists in Gulu, Uganda.  Today that ministry continues. Friends of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Gulu, Uganda, are living a dream of building a maternity clinic in Gulu, where:

  • About 16 women in Uganda die every day from pregnancy and childbirth-related complications
  • 435 mothers per 100,000 live births die
  • Uganda's annual number of neonatal deaths is 44,000
  • Another 130,000 to 145,000 women and girls will suffer from disabilities caused by complications during pregnancy and childbirth each year

He is a dedicated student and presenter of this true American musical form, having acquired both a vast repertoire of tunes and extensive knowledge of their origins. These histories and the stories of the piano players who were playing them are anecdotally incorporated into his presentations. (Bob also teaches music history at Florida Atlantic University every winter, and conducts a Music Retreat in Lapeer, MI each September.)

Bob Milne brings endless enthusiasm, enchanting ease of playing, and an engaging manner while telling stories about Ragtime and Boogie Woogie music with warmth and humor.

Join us for this very special concert featuring an outstanding pianist specializing in Ragtime, Boogie-Woogie, the Blues, and the Player Piano styles of the turn of the century.

The St. Cletus Fine Arts Series was created in 2009 to to present high quality musical performances outside of the liturgical setting.

This concert is presented free of charge. A freewill offering will be collected to support the ministry of The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
