CELEBRATING SUMMER’S END WITH WEST END ART FESTIVAL,

EVENING OF ART & JAZZ

 August 17, 2012 -- An end-of-summer celebration brings hot jazz and cool art to La Grange at the 17th Annual West End Art Festival with an eclectic blend of artists from throughout the US, a childrens’ art activity area and musical entertainment throughout the weekend.

Presented by the La Grange Business Association in cooperation with the Village of La Grange, the festival will feature the work of over sixty jury-selected artists on Saturday, September 15 from 10AM - 5PM, and Sunday, September 16 from 10AM - 4PM.  The event is held in the shadow of the historic Stone Avenue Station along Burlington Avenue between Brainard and Waiola Avenues.

 Artists will present several art forms including painting, acrylics, oils, sculpture, woodwork, jewelry, photography, watercolor and mixed media for sale.

 The festival kicks off with “An Evening of Art & Jazz” on Friday, September 14 from 6-9PM.  Patrons can enjoy an artist preview and sale while listening to live jazz from the Marlene Rosenberg Septet featuring vocalist Tammy McCann.  A versatile bassist, composer and bandleader, Rosenberg is a fixture on the Chicago jazz scene; vocalist Tammy McCann, a Chicago native, was opera trained and toured as a backup singer to Ray Charles. A cash bar and food from local restaurants are also part of the event.

 Local musician Clarence Goodman is featured Sunday from 10-4PM.
