Ex-La Grange Teacher's License May Be Suspended
He gave the school district two days' notice before he resigned.
LA GRANGE, IL – The teaching license for a former La Grange School District 102 teacher may be suspended, according to public records.
On Feb. 17, Ryan Bothwell, an elementary school art teacher, submitted his letter of resignation, giving two days' notice.
On his last day, the board voted not to accept Bothwell's resignation. And the district filled out a state school board "misconduct reporting form," letting the agency know that Bothwell left mid-year.

Under state law, a teacher cannot leave during the school year to accept another teaching assignment at an Illinois public school without the board's approval.
If the state superintendent finds that Bothwell did so, the state can suspend his license for a calendar year.

As of Wednesday, Bothwell still had his license, state records show. His license was originally issued in July 1997.
According to District 102 meeting minutes, the board said it had no interest in Bothwell staying, but voted unanimously to deny his resignation, triggering the suspension process.
