Fire Damages House In La Grange Neighborhood

No cause has been determined in the fire. The house was built in 1919.

LA GRANGE, IL – A fire damaged a porch and part of an adjacent, detached garage Friday morning at 350 S. Blackstone Ave. in La Grange, the fire chief said.

Firefighters responded to a fire shortly after 9 a.m. No one was injured.

La Grange Fire Chief Terry Vavra said the fire was put out in about five minutes.

Asked about the cause, Vavra said he had not spoken with the investigators yet.

"Every time I have ever tried to guess (a cause), I've been wrong," he said.

Crews from six other fire departments joined the effort, Vavra said.

According to real estate websites, the two-story house was built in 1919.
