Forest Road School Student Council Gives Back to Feed My Starving Children

On May 22, members of the Forest Road School Student Council volunteered at Feed My Starving Children’s Aurora location. Students from the La Grange Park school packed meals specifically for babies (6-12 months) and children with special needs who require a specialized diet. 49 students and 18 adults were on the team. The volunteer team packed 68 boxes of food that day and the countries that will benefit include: Guatemala, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Philippines, and Ghana.

“It really is motivating to the kids to see the effects of their service right in front of them,” said Kim McGann, Student Council co-supervisor. “Many of them have expressed interest in going back with their families over the summer to continue their service.”

Each year, the Forest Road Student Council, open to all students who are in grades 4-6, take part in community outreach and local service projects. This year, students submitted ideas and voted to visit the Feed My Starving Children organization.

A Christian non-profit founded in 1987, Feed My Starving Children tackles world hunger by sending volunteer-packed, nutritious meals to 70 countries, where they’re used to operate orphanages, schools, clinics and feeding programs to break the cycle of poverty.
