Former State Trooper Convicted of Killing His Girlfriend
Prosecutors said Brian Himber fatally shot his girlfriend in 2012 in Westchester.

Former Illinois state trooper Brian Himber, 34 of Chicago, has been convicted in the 2012 shooting death of his girlfriend at a party in Westchester.
A jury deliberated for about 75 minutes Jan. 14 before returning the guilty verdict on the first degree murder charge at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse in Maywood, according to a statement from State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.
Prosecutors said Himber and his girlfriend, Tracy Mays, were at a graduation party in 2012 in Westchester when the shooting took place. Himber was off duty, and a few hours after they got to the party, Himber shot Mays multiple times while she was on a porch, prosecutors said

Mays died of her injuries at a hospital. Himber shot himself once in the chin after shooting Mays, prosecutors said.
Himber’s bail was revoked, and he will stay in Cook County Jail until his March 4 sentencing. He faces a prison sentence of 45 years to life.
