A guest who left a loaded 9mm pistol on a table after a four-hour romp at a Lyons motel was found with a large quantity of pot in his car when he tried to run from police, prosecutors said.
Deven Mangrum, 35, of Chicago, appeared before Cook County Associate Judge John Hynes on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card, and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

According to the charges, Mangrum and a friend rented a room four hours at the Presidential Inn and Suites, 3922 S. Harlem Ave., Lyons, on Feb. 28. After Mangrum overstayed his time, the staff told him he had to leave.
In his haste to leave, the prosecutor said that Mangrum left his gun on a table in the room. He came back later and asked to be let back into the room, but staff called Lyons police instead.

The prosecutor said that Mangrum ran from police and was pulled over moments later in his car, where officers found 541 grams of pot in his vehicle along with 15 rounds of ammunition.
Mangrum allegedly provided a written statement to police acknowledging that the gun and cannabis were his.
He was also charged with violating his probation stemming from the 2014 manufacturing/delivery conviction.
The assistant public defender told the judge that Mangrum has been working as a janitor the past two years.
Judge Hynes set bail at $75,000 on the new charges, and $50,000 for violation of probation. Mangrum is due back in court in Bridgeview on March 28.
