Increase In La Grange Virus Cases Slows: Cook County

The 15 residents who have died from COVID-19 have been 68 or older, statistics show.

LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange saw a smaller increase in its coronavirus caseload than it has experienced in the last three weeks, according to the Cook County Public Health Department. As of Sunday, La Grange has seen 434 virus cases since the beginning of the pandemic. That number rose 4 percent in the last week.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office reported that the latest two coronavirus deaths in La Grange were Aug. 27 and Sept. 4. That brings the total deaths to 15. Before the recent deaths, no La Grange resident had died as a result of the coronavirus since June 9. All the local deaths have been those who were 68 or older, according to the medical examiner.

The Cook County Public Health Department's coronavirus numbers for La Grange also include unincorporated La Grange Highlands, which the agency did not make apparent until recently. La Grange Patch has been using the health department's numbers all along. In an email, the department said it was unable to determine La Grange cases from those in La Grange Highlands. It is unclear whether other areas with La Grange addresses outside village limits are included in the county's La Grange figures.
