Is All Natural Cereals Truly Natural?

Kashi GoLean has been a product that has been considered healthy.  I remember the time when I was attending Arizona State and I used to have Kashi GoLean every morning with my organic rice milk.  Thankfully, I only consumed the product for 6 months and found healthier alternatives to the grains I wanted to consume in the morning.  But Kashi is one of those over priced cereals where you think you are getting what you paid for.  Unfortunately that is far from the truth.  Research done in labs have found out that Kashi GoLean cereal contains 100% genetically modified organisms.  Here is the exact quote from the study:

The cereal was 100% GMO and had pesticide residues despite having “natural” on the label.

So, the question comes, when will us consumers figure out what we can consume and it is considered natural.  Being in the health industry for over 13 years, I have learned that most of everything is based upon semantics.  If it is processed from a natural source, we can say it is "natural."  Let me ask you a question, if you change the DNA of the seed, plant in the soil and let it do what natures does best, "thrive," do you think the process is still natural?

If you are like me who used to consume Kashi GoLean cereal, you are probably wondering, what is a safe and natural cereal to consume?  I have provided a link from the Cornucopia Institute who does studies on a vast amount of food companies to determine if they are GMO-free, Organic and natural as the company states they are.   Here is their online score card: Click here

As always, enjoy your wonderful cereals with coconut milk or make your own almond/nut/seed milk as desired.  I will write a blog on a recipe I use to create my own nut/seed/coconut milk.  I believe it is always better when you make it homemade.  :)
