Junior High Leadership Conference Hopes to Inspire 7th and 8th Grade Youth

The LeaderShop of La Grange is, once again, hosting a junior high leadership conference where 7th and 8th grade youth will hear motivational speakers, participate in group discussions and end the day with a dance. This year’s conference will take place on Saturday, September 19, from 9:00am until 10:00pm at Congress Park Elementary School in Brookfield.

During team building sessions and small and large group discussions, the youth will discuss topics like making responsible choices, building healthy relationships, and feeling empowered to make a difference. Invited speakers Eddie Slowikowski and John Brossman will give presentations to enhance that message.

The conference is start of a program that runs throughout the school year in which students plan and implement service projects. It also gives students the opportunity to meet new people from different schools and positive adult role models. Some examples of service projects in the past include making meals for families staying at a nearby Ronald McDonald House and selling hot chocolate to raise money for a nearby foundation.
