BROOKFIELD, IL — Kids will be allowed at Brookfield Zoo for free on several dates this month. The free dates at the zoo are Aug. 5, 6 and 7 and are sponsored by AMITA Health and Groupon, zoo staff wrote in a news release. The free admission is open to all children ages 11 and under.
Activities will be available between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the zoo's pavilions on the free days. Kids can explore the inside of an ambulance, engage in fun health-related activities, enjoy a health snack (while supplies last) and meet some of the zoo’s animal ambassadors.
The Brick Safari exhibit in which more than 40 life-size animal sculptures have been created from more than 1.6 million individual colored LEGO bricks will still be on display these days as well. Snowflake, the zoo's albino alligator, will also still be there before he heads back to Florida.
