La Grange-Based PAC Turns In Late Report

The group appeared to be spending money in March, although its report says otherwise.

LA GRANGE, IL – A political action committee that backed the three winners in the Lyons Township High School board election submitted its quarterly report two days late.

La Grange-based Support Our School filed the document Wednesday with the state Board of Elections.

During the quarter ending March 31, the group said it raised no money and spent nothing.

The group did not file as an organization with the elections board until March 27. Its filing with the secretary of state showed that it registered as an organization March 9.

Before the March 27 filing date, Support Our School sent a mailer supporting progressive, union-backed candidates Kari Dillon, Jill Beda Daniels and Tim Albores and denouncing conservatives Frank Evans, Tim Vlcek and David Herndon.

On April 3, a day before the election, Support Our School reported it received $15,000 from Bonnie Atkinson of Burr Ridge and $5,000 from Mark Laubacher of Western Springs. Both contributions came two days earlier, the report said.

Given the activity in March, it appeared the group was already spending money, even though its report says otherwise.

Patch has left messages with committee chairman John Almer of La Grange Park, treasurer Elaine Layden of Burr Ridge and Heather Wier Vaught of La Grange Park, who was listed as submitting the latest report.
