The suspect was described as Hispanic, in his early 20s, 5-foot-5, having a beard and long brown hair, having tattoos on his arms, and wearing a light-colored T-shirt, brown baseball hat and light-colored shorts.
At Monday's Village Board meeting, Police Chief Robert Wardlaw said officers continue to investigate the crime.
"We are working on several leads, and we expect to have a hopeful resolve in the upcoming weeks," the chief said.
He urged residents to never conduct transactions alone.
"Always meet in a public place. The preferable place is the La Grange Police Department lobby and/or parking spaces in front of the police department," Wardlaw told the council. "Request that an officer stand by when you're conducting these types of sales."
