La Grange Couple's Breakup Results In Damage: Cops

In another case, a La Grange man got into a drunken-driving crash in his neighborhood, police said.

LA GRANGE, IL – In recent days, La Grange police handled cases involving criminal damage, DUI, car burglary, bicycle theft and identity theft. Here is information from the latest La Grange police reports:

Criminal damage

  • After a relationship breakup, clothing and shoes were scattered Thursday on the sidewalk in the 10 block of Washington Avenue. The items, which were cut up and destroyed, were valued at $1,000.

DUI

  • A 54-year-old La Grange man who lives in the 400 block of Sunset Avenue was arrested about 7:30 p.m. March 30 in the 400 block of Sunset on charges of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and damage to village property. The crash was in the 400 block of Sunset.

Car burglary

  • A laptop was reported stolen from a parked car Tuesday near Ashland and Burlington avenues. The owner noticed his car's window was slightly lowered. The computer was valued at $1,000.

Bicycle theft

  • A bicycle was reported stolen March 25 from the front porch of a house in the 200 block of North Kensington Avenue. It was valued at $250.

Identity theft

  • A real estate agent told police March 27 that someone used another person's identity to try to rent an apartment in the 10 block of South Waiola Avenue. The victim was notified and plans to file an identity theft report with her police department.
  • A resident in the 500 block of South Kensington Avenue told police April 1 that she noticed several charges on her online banking app totaling more than $10,000. The bank advised her that the suspect obtained a debit card linked to her account.

Warrant

  • A 24-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 3:30 a.m. March 29 in the 10 block of East Burlington Avenue on a warrant. Police listed the incident as a "suspicious person."
