La Grange D102 Hires New Superintendent

He will replace the retiring superintendent during the summer.

HINSDALE, IL – Chris Covino, assistant superintendent for academics at Hinsdale High School District 86, is leaving in June to become the superintendent of La Grange School District 102, District 86 announced Friday.

Covino is replacing the retiring Kyle Schumacher.

Covino has been with District 86 for the last three years. He has often taken a prominent role at school board meetings, detailing test scores and other academic numbers.

District 86 Superintendent Tammy Prentiss said the district would launch a search for Covino's replacement immediately. His last day is June 30.

"Chris is an outstanding educator and exemplary leader who has played a pivotal role in advancing our strategic plan, has contributed to the continued success of our schools and, most importantly, has helped support the growth and achievement of our students," Prentiss said in a district news release.

In the release, Covino said he was excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. He also said he and his colleagues have much to do in District 86 through June.

"This includes continuing to align the district’s curriculum and grading practices, developing the Portrait of a Graduate profile for our students, and exploring scheduling options that are aimed at improving or enhancing the way we deliver instruction," he said.
