La Grange D102 May Release Closed Session Recording
The meeting involved a conflict-of-interest allegation against a board member.
LA GRANGE, IL – The La Grange School District 102 board may be the second local public body to release a recording of a closed meeting this month.
In May, the attorney general found the District 102 board violated state law when it closed the doors two years ago to discuss an allegation against one of its members.
The member is Ed Campbell, who became the board's president after being re-elected in April.

The closed session was April 29, 2021. It was held after then-member Bessie Boyd publicly raised the issue of Campbell's potential conflict of interest.
On Thursday, the board is slated to vote on whether to release the recording from that meeting.

Under orders from the attorney general, the Lyons Township High School board last week released the recordings of two Jan. 23 closed sessions.
The attorney general's opinion about District 102 was the result of a complaint filed by watchdog Edgar Pal.
Pal has repeatedly uncovered Open Meetings Act violations in the suburbs. His complaints with the attorney general, among other things, have caused the Elmhurst City Council and the boards for Elmhurst School District 205 and the Elmhurst Park District to release their closed-session recordings.
