La Grange Gets Artsy this Weekend

It's time for the 16th annual West End Art Festival complete with a juried art event and live jazz music.

Downtown La Grange hosted the craft fair over the summer and now it’s the “west end” of La Grange’s turn to host the art festival. In its 16th year, the West End Art Festival is a juried art event that features artists from across the United States.

The weekend kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 with An Evening of Art & Jazz hosted by the. The evening will run until 9 p.m. with an artist preview and sale and live music provided by Akalibrio. There will be a cash bar and food provided by and . Even the La Grange Police Department is getting into the food biz. Officers will be selling popcorn, pretzels and nachos with the proceeds going to support D.A.R.E.

The art festival takes place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. Artists will be selling their creations, which include painting, acrylics, oils, sculpture, woodwork, jewelry, photography, watercolor, blown glass, fiber and mixed media. Various art activities will be available along with food from the local restaurants.

The location for all events over the weekend is in the “west end” of La Grange between Brainard and Spring avenues along Burlington Avenue with Stone Avenue train station as a beautiful backdrop.
