LA GRANGE, IL – A former official from the Pleasantview Fire Protection District is set to become La Grange's next fire chief.

On Monday, the Village Board is voting on the appointment of Steve Norvilas, who recently retired as the Pleasantview chief. Village President Mark Kuchler is recommending him.

Norvilas has nearly three decades of experience in fire departments, according to a village memo. He is replacing Terry Vavra, who served more than three years at the helm. Vavra left in December because he reached the state's mandatory retirement age of 65.
