La Grange Hiring New Police Chief

The staff recommended someone who is now a deputy chief at another department.

LA GRANGE, IL – The La Grange Village Board on Tuesday plans to vote on the appointment of a new police chief.

The staff is recommending Timothy Griffin, a deputy police chief in Mount Prospect since 2014. He has been with the Mount Prospect department for 25 years.

Griffin holds a doctorate in organizational leadership from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He also has a master's degree in law enforcement and justice administration from Western Illinois University.

Griffin has served as an adjunct professor at three regional colleges. He has taught ethics and professionalism in criminal justice, police administration, budgeting, community policing and juvenile justice.

Former La Grange Police Chief Robert Wardlaw retired in early June, having taken the helm in December 2021.

Over the summer, Kurt Bluder, a former La Grange police chief, served as interim chief. In a couple of weeks, he is returning to his regular job as director of security for Hinsdale High School District 86.
