La Grange Homeowner Defrauded Of $9K: Cops

The home stager never delivered to the owner, police said. The home sold for nearly $1.3 million earlier this year.

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange police released their latest blotter Friday. Here is information from the reports:

Fraud

  • A resident in the 100 block of Eighth Avenue is out more than $9,000 that he paid to a home stager. It was unclear whether the home staging occurred in the 100 block of Eighth Avenue or somewhere else. Upon contacting the business, the resident discovered the stager never ordered the items. A home stager is someone who furnishes properties for sale in a way that attracts buyers.
  • A resident in the 800 block of South Brainard Avenue bought a car online for $15,000. The car was never delivered, and the seller's account was flagged for fraudulent activity. An investigation continues.
  • A resident in the 10 block of South Ashland Avenue nearly became the victim of a fraudulent scheme Aug. 11. A family member recognized what it was and put a stop to it.

Theft

  • Jennifer Sapata, 23, of Chicago, was arrested about 9 a.m. Aug. 11 at FNBC Bank & Trust, 620 W. Burlington Ave., on charges of theft and forgery.

Warrant

  • Kenneth Boyd, 64, of Lyons, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bluff and Ashley on a warrant and charges of no valid driver's license, disobeying a stop sign and having no car insurance.

Egged

  • Eggs were thrown at houses in the 300 block of South Kensington Avenue and the 100 block of South Waiola Avenue. The reports were filed Tuesday.
