La Grange is Going to Rock This Weekend: Auction and Sidewalk Sale

This week, the rocking chairs that have been on display all summer in downtown La Grange, will be removed from their locations to get ready to be auctioned off. As in past years, the summer displays are auctioned off with the funds going to charity and non-profits. Some of the chairs need some slight touch-ups after a long, hot summer on the sidewalks of La Grange. The artists will get the chairs ready for the big event on Sept. 9.

The live auction will be held at , 53 S. La Grange Rd., from 5-7 p.m. There will be live entertainment by The Twisters, and all the chairs will be on display. The live auction begins at 7 p.m. and is expected to last until 9 p.m., or until all the chairs have been auctioned off to their new owners.

Theis also sponsoring a sidewalk sale in La Grange in conjunctions with the rocking chair auctions. Retailers in La Grange will be offering bargains this weekend, in both downtown La Grange and in the West End business district. A shuttle will be available between the two areas, just look for the red stops signs that will line the streets.

There are prizes this year too. Many of the merchants are participating in a card program, that shoppers can pick up at the participating merchant's shops. If you get the card stamped by 12 merchants you could win a prize.
