LA GRANGE, IL – A La Grange business that is geared toward small children has a request to the village for liquor code amendments, the village says.

The Liquor Commission plans to take up the issue at its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the first-floor conference room at La Grange Village Hall. The business is Waterlemon Kids Boutique and Indoor Play Space, 25 La Grange Road.

The meeting agenda does not indicate the nature of Waterlemon Kids' request.

In an email to Patch on Friday, Village Manager Jack Knight said Waterlemon Kids already had a bring-your-own-liquor license. Now, the business is seeking to have staff under 21 run the facility during bring-your-own liquor events and have limited sales of beer and wine at other times when the facility is open to the public and staff over 21 is present, Knight said.

According to Waterlemon Kids' website, the business' goal was to create a "stylish, cozy and modern indoor play space (and party venue) where children could play creatively and peacefully and parents could relax with their coffee (and snap a few adorable pics of their little ones in the process)."

Owner Nina Makovski designed the business so that "mom and dad could sit in our café area and have that conversation, send that email, take that call and still keep a watchful eye on their little one," the website said.

Patch has filed a public records request with the village for more information about Waterlemon Kids' request.

On Friday morning, Patch left an emailed message with the business.
