La Grange Library Gets New Leader

The former executive director left the library for an out-of-state job.

LA GRANGE, IL – The La Grange Public Library is getting a new executive director.

Jennifer Hovanec, circulation manager at Northbrook Public Library, is set to start Jan. 25.

Hovanec is also a trustee for the Villa Park Public Library.

She has served as the director of the Calumet City Public Library. She received her master's degree in library science from Dominican University.

"Her broad background in libraries and management, along with her infectious enthusiasm for the patrons and staff, make her a great fit for the La Grange community," library board President Elizabeth Crewe said in a statement.

The La Grange library said it conducted a national search for a new director with the help of Bradbury Miller Associates.

In September, Charity Gallardo, the library's executive director, accepted a job as executive director of the Schenectady County Public Library System in Schenectady, New York.
