Late the afternoon of June 16, a woman called police about a disturbance at her house in the 100 block of East Avenue. The woman told officers that Williams was cursing and punching walls and that she wanted him out for the night, police said.

When officers arrived, they found Williams in the front yard. He then went inside. He yelled at officers to "get the f---" away, according to the police report.

Williams went into a bedroom and closed the door. An officer said he heard Williams loading three or four rounds of ammunition into a gun magazine, with another officer confirming that information, the report said.

The officer then unholstered his gun and pointed it down as he quickly opened the door, police said. Williams was standing, pointing his gun down. It was described as a revolver-style firearm, but was later listed as an air pistol in the report.

The officer told Williams to put the gun down. Williams did so, tossing it to the floor, police said.

Williams then resisted arrest, despite orders not to do so, according to the report. Officers finally took him to the ground and handcuffed him.

In a later interview, Williams said he had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend the night before, which upset him, the report said. He said he had been out drinking before he arrived that afternoon, police said.

Asked why he got the weapon in the bedroom, Williams said he wanted the officer to shoot him, police said.

He said he remembered officers trying to calm him down, but could not recall being told to stop resisting.
