La Grange Park Gas Leak Reported: Village

LA GRANGE PARK, IL — A natural gas line was hit Wednesday morning by crews digging in the 600 block of North Stone Avenue, near the intersection with Oak Avenue, the La Grange Park village government announced in a statement. This created a substantial gas leak requiring a fire department response, the village said.

Nicor has been on the site several hours working to stop the leak. At this point, Nicor believes the leak will be controlled within the hour once another crew arrives. The fire department is working closely with Nicor to maintain safety and to keep the area secure, according to the village. The village asks residents to avoid the area at this time if possible.
