Pop-Up Collection Drive Held In La Grange
La Grange Pop-up Product Collection Drive Empowers Underserved Kids, Honors MLK Day of Service
WHAT: To meet the urgent need to provide more local children with warm clothing, coats and snow boots this winter, on Monday, January 21 Cradles to Crayons Chicago is hosting a pop-up collection drive in La Grange and asking area families to drop-off donations of new and gently-used items for children living in low-income situations across the Chicago-metro area.
Nonprofit Cradles to Crayons, which has already provided essentials to more than 100,000 vulnerable local children, works to eliminate the clothing insecurity that too-often keeps kids from attending school and feeling the confidence they need to succeed. For the first time on this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, Cradles to Crayons will collect donations at a centralized La Grange location, making it easier for families living outside of the city to engage in the region’s growing fight against clothing insecurity. About Cradles to Crayons: Cradles to Crayons is a national nonprofit organization with locations in Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago that provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive—at home, at school, and at play. Cradles to Crayons supplies these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities that have with communities that need, collecting new and like-new children’s items through grassroots community drives and corporate donations. Donations are processed and packaged by volunteers at warehouses called “Giving Factories” and are distributed to children through a collaborative network of social service agencies and school partners.
