La Grange Sees 100 More Virus Cases In Last Week: County
The village's coronavirus cases have more than doubled since early October.
LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange experienced 100 more coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the Cook County Public Health Department. That represented a 10 percent weekly increase, with the village passing the 1,000 mark in cases.
As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had 1,063 virus cases. Until the last month, La Grange had been seeing weekly increases of 3 percent to 5 percent for more than a month.
Since early October, La Grange's cases have more than doubled. The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in La Grange is 18, with the latest ones Nov. 9, Oct. 30, Oct. 17, Sept. 4 and Aug. 27. All the local deaths have been those who were 68 or older, according to the medical examiner.

As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had 55.6 coronavirus cases per thousand people, worse than its neighbors. The figure compares to 35.4 in La Grange Park, 39.6 in Darien, 41.2 in Western Springs, 41.7 in Hinsdale, 43.9 in Clarendon Hills, 46.9 in Elmhurst, 47.1 in DuPage County, 50.8 in Burr Ridge and 51.5 in suburban Cook County.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 720,114, up 9.7 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 12,193 state residents.
Nationally, 13.1 million people have caught the virus, up 9.5 percent from the week before. A total of 265,166 people have died from the virus in the United States.
