La Grange Sees 15% Spike in Virus Cases: County
The increase is similar to nearby towns and the state.
LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange experienced a 15 percent rise in coronavirus cases over the last week, according to the Cook County Public Health Department.
As of Sunday, La Grange had seen 662 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up by 85 from a week earlier, health department figures show.
Since late September, the number has risen more than 40 percent. Before this last week, La Grange had been seeing 3 to 5 percent weekly hikes for more than a month.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in La Grange stood at 16, with the latest ones Oct. 30, Aug. 27 and Sept. 4. All the local deaths have been those who were 68 or older, according to the medical examiner.
The Cook County Public Health Department's coronavirus numbers for La Grange also include unincorporated La Grange Highlands, which the agency did not make apparent until August. La Grange Patch has been citing the health department's numbers all along.

As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had 34.6 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 22.6 in La Grange Park, 24.4 in Darien, 25.5 in Western Springs, 29.6 in Clarendon Hills, 30.3 in Hinsdale, 30.4 in Elmhurst, 30.6 in DuPage County, 35 in suburban Cook County and 36 in Burr Ridge.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 487,987, up 17 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 10,196 state residents.
Nationally, 9.8 million people have caught the virus, up 8 percent from the week before. A total of 236,547 people have died from the virus in the United States.
