La Grange Sees Smallest Virus Case Hike In Months
The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 11 La Grange residents, county says.
LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange saw its smallest weekly increase in coronavirus cases in two months. As of Sunday, the village saw 14 new cases in the previous week and 11 virus-related deaths so far, according to Cook County authorities.
The increase in coronavirus cases over the last week amounts to 9 percent, lower than the previous week's 10 percent. Before that, the percentage jumps were considerably larger.

Over the last week, suburban Cook County's case number jumped to 30,149, a 9 percent increase from the previous week's 27,573. The county's deaths increased by 11 percent to 1,309, up from 1,181 a week earlier. The percentage increases in cases and deaths were about half the previous week's.
As of Sunday, La Grange had 11.4 coronavirus cases per thousand people, which is higher than nearby towns — 3.1 in Western Springs, 4.9 in Elmhurst and Clarendon Hills, 5.2 in Darien, 5.8 in La Grange Park, 8 in Burr Ridge, 8.4 in DuPage County, 10.3 in Hinsdale and 12.3 in suburban Cook County.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 120,260, up 9 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 5,390 state residents.
Nationally, 1.8 million people have caught the virus and 106,198 have died from it.
