La Grange Tennis Player Wins USTA Midwest Tournament

Dominick Cuchran will move onto the USTA National Championships this August.

LA GRANGE, IL — A La Grange doubles tennis player has won the United States Tennis Association Midwest Section and will move onto the USTA National Championships. Dominick Cuchran and his partner Ian Brady of Indianapolis won the Boys' 16 Doubles. The pair defeated Noelle Andrey Ampong of Downers Grove and Lucas Guy of Portage, Michigan, 7-6 (4); 6-0.

According to the USTA, the junior tournament in the Midwest Section ended Thursday, June 28, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Over 1,000 talented junior players from all five USTA/Midwest Section States – Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin – competed in the event.

The tournament includes four age groups and players must earn the right to play or be endorsed by their respective USTA Districts. Winners from the USTA/Midwest Section Closed Junior Championship are automatically included in the section quota for the USTA Boys’ and Girls’ 12, 14, 16 and 18 National Championships this August.
