La Grange Trustee Resigns, Headed To Florida

LA GRANGE, IL – A La Grange trustee resigned his position last week because he is moving to Florida.

Village President Mark Kuchler confirmed Trustee Glenn Thompson's departure on Wednesday.

According to Thompson's LinkedIn page, he became the president of Flash-Rite in the Orlando suburb of Maitland, Florida, in May. He is listed as on-site.

Flash-Rite is a construction barricade company. Thompson was previously president of WJ Surface Co., a roadway safety improvement construction company.

Thompson was absent from the Village Board's last two meetings, which were on June 22 and July 13.

After floods in the summer of 2021, Thompson joined other residents to form Dry Up La Grange. Wearing the group's lime green T-shirts to meetings, they demanded the village take action.

In 2023, he ran unopposed for the Village Board.

Village President Kuchler has the power to appoint Thompson's replacement, subject to trustees' approval.

Patch left a message for comment with Thompson on Wednesday afternoon.

Another trustee, Beth Augustine, who was often aligned with Thompson on key issues, announced in early May that she would not seek re-election next spring.

Augustine, who has served since 2019, said she wanted to reveal her plans early, so potential candidates have plenty of time to prepare.

La Grange trustees are unpaid.
