La Grange Trustees Approve Art and Craft Fair, Summer Carnival

The Village Board approved a number of summer events at this month, including closing LaGrange Road for the Pet Parade, and giving the OK for Ahh La Grange Carnival and the La Grange Art and Craft Fair.

The “Ahhh! La Grange” Carnival and La Grange Art and Craft Fair are returning this summer after receiving approval this month from the Village Board.

The La Grange Business Association will hold the “Ahhh! La Grange” Carnival from  Friday, June 1, to Sunday, June 3, on the weekend of the Pet Parade.

The carnival will be held on Harris Avenue between LaGrange Road and Ashland Avenue,  the same location as used in recent years.

Carnival hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The carnival is intended to be a family event  with thrill and adult rides, an a large section of kids’ rides and games. Windy City Amusements will provide the carnival, food booths and games.  A licensed, local caterer will sell beer and wine.

The business association also asked the village for use of Village Lot 8, Harris and Madison avenues, to be used by local restaurant vendors.

Harris Avenue, from LaGrange Road to Ashland Avenue, will be closed from 6 a.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, June 4.        

Road and parking lot closures also are planned for the 38th annual La Grange Art and Craft Fair Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15.

Harris going west from LaGrange Road to Ashland will close from 2 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday. Two lots on the north side of Harris between Madison and Ashland avenues also will close at the same time.

More than 200 exhibitors and food sellers are expected.

The fair will be along the east and west sides of LaGrange Road from Burlington to Cossitt avenues; Harris Avenue from LaGrange Road to Ashland Avenue; the village parking lots on the north side of Harris from Madison to Ashland avenues;  and on Madison Avenue from Harris south to just north of the entrance to the parking lot at Harris and Madison. All affected businesses and the Senior Center are to be notified at least two weeks before the event of the street closures.

This location has brought positive comments from, crafters, area businesses and the public, said village officials.

The event brings thousands of visitors into La Grange and is considered one of eh bigger shopping days of the summer by many downtown business, village officials said.
