La Grange's Virus Case Rate Stable: County
No new coronavirus deaths are reported in La Grange.
LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange's weekly increase in coronavirus cases has stabilized in the last month, according to the Cook County Public Health Department.
As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had seen 2,579 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, 22 more than the previous week. The week before last, La Grange also experienced 22 new cases.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the local number of recorded coronavirus-related deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 36. The latest deaths were Sept. 17, Sept. 14, May 24, May 22, May 14 and Feb. 13. All the local deaths have been those who were over 50, according to the medical examiner.

The mortality rate among La Grange cases is 1.4 percent. About a tenth of 1 percent of the local population has died from the virus.

As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had 135 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, the worst among its surveyed neighbors. The figure compares to 93 in Darien, 102 in La Grange Park, 106 in Hinsdale and DuPage County, 109 in Elmhurst, 114 in Clarendon Hills, 115 in Western Springs, 116 in suburban Cook County and 118 in Burr Ridge.
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,665,777, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 25,407.
Nationally, 44.8 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 722,212 people have died from the virus in the United States.
