La Grange's Virus Caseload Edges Up Slightly
Village sees the smallest weekly increase in two months.
LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange saw its smallest weekly increase in coronavirus cases in more than two months. As of Sunday, the village had four more cases over the last week, lower than the previous week's seven, according to the Cook County Public Health Department. Meanwhile, the village experienced one more virus-related death in the last week, bringing the total to 13, the county medical examiner's figures show.
The increase in coronavirus cases over the last week amounts to 2 percent, lower than the previous week's 4 percent. Before that, the percentage jumps were considerably larger.

Over the last week, suburban Cook County's case number jumped to 33,057, a 4 percent increase from the previous week's 31,894. The county's deaths increased by 7 percent to 1,531, up from 1,436 a week earlier.
As of Sunday, La Grange had 13 cases per thousand people. That compares to 3.3 in Western Springs, 5.4 in Clarendon Hills, 5.6 in Elmhurst, 5.8 in Darien, 5.9 in La Grange Park, 8.6 in Burr Ridge, 9.1 in DuPage County, 10.3 in Hinsdale and 13.5 in suburban Cook County.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 132,543, up 4 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 6,308 state residents.
Nationally, 2.2 million people have caught the virus and 117,859 have died from it.
