Learning to Live More in the Moment:Mindfulness Techniques for Parents of Children with Special Needs or Learning Differences

The Resource Association in Special Education (RAiSE) is hosting a presentation by Erin Leyba, LCSW, Ph.D. Dr. Leyba will discuss how parents can use mindfulness techniques to live more in the moment despite the unique circumstances of raising a child with special needs or learning differences. She will also focus on how parents can learn to treat themselves with compassion, to strengthen parent-child relationships, and to notice and leverage their children's strengths.

Dr. Leyba is an individual and couples counselor in private practice in Oak Brook, Illinois, who specializes in grief/loss, anxiety, parenting, and relationships. She is the author of The Joy Fix for Weary Parents: 5 Steps to Overcoming Fatigue, Guilt, and Stress and Building a Life You Love. Dr. Leyba also writes the Joyful Parenting blog for Psychology Today and blogs at www.thejoyfix.com.
