LTHS Board Member Leaves After 15 Months
She gives her reason for resigning from the board, according to a school news release.

LA GRANGE, IL – A Lyons Township High School board member who was appointed 15 months ago resigned Wednesday, the school announced.
Member Elvia Nava is leaving because she is moving away, according to a school news release Thursday.
"We appreciate her willingness to volunteer and her contribution to important Board discussions and decisions over the past 15 months," board President Jill Grech said in the release.

The original news release described Nava's relocation as "planned." An updated version removed the word.
"It was rather an impromptu professional as well as a family/personal decision that came together only in recent weeks," Nava told Patch in an email.

The board must appoint someone to fill Nava's seat until the April election.
In July 2023, the school board appointed Nava, an engineer from La Grange Park. Nava filled the seat left vacant by Julie Swinehart, who resigned a day after graduation because she planned to move away.
Fifteen people applied for the open position. At full strength, the board consists of seven members.
Applicants for Nava's position are asked to download a candidate application packet or they may pick it up at the superintendent's office.
Applicants must be at least 18, have lived in the school district for at least a year and be registered to vote.
The application deadline is 3 p.m. Oct. 11. For more information, call the board's clerk, Marilyn Zydlo, at 708-579-6451 or email her.
