Congratulations are in order for the Lyons Township High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) Club. Students recently competed in Regional contests and 44 qualified to compete at the State level. LT students performed extremely well in a variety of categories, including Parliamentary Procedures, Database Applications, Fundamental Spreadsheets, Banking & Finance, and Computer Network Technology to name just a few.
Winning BPA students qualified for state competition in 23 categories. Three teams will advance: a 6-person Parliamentary Procedure Team, a 4-person Admin Support Team and a 4-person Financial Analyst Team. Fifteen of LT’s state qualifiers will compete in two categories. LT earned 22 first place finishes, 13 second place finishes and eight third place finishes.
The BPA state competitions will be held February 27-March 1 at the Double Tree Hotel in Oak Brook. The students are led and coached by Global Studies teachers Julie Bryar-Smith and Krista Wilcox.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office administration. The organization’s activities and program complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of skills learned at school. BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
