Lyons Aquatics hosts elite swim camp led by former Olympic champions

Lyons Aquatics was only one of four swim clubs in the country selected to host an elite speed and power swim camp Oct 3 and 4.

Lyons Aquatics was only one of four swim clubs in the country selected by Fitter and Faster swim tour to host an Elite speed and power swim camp Oct 3 and 4. The camp was led by former Olympic champions Kara Lynn Joyce and Jimmy Feigen. Joyce has achieved four Olympic medals and is one of only 7 women to qualify for three U.S. Olympic Teams. Feigen earned a Silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and was a Silver Medalist at the 2013 World Championships.

The camp was run over two days and required an advanced speed in the 100 yard free to enter. More than 60 swimmers from around the Midwest drove many hours and flew in for this very special camp. Ten of the 60 swimmers represented were from Lyons Aquatics.

“I couldn’t be happier to have our club be selected to host such a prestigious event. What a wonderful opportunity for our young swimmers to learn from some of the best in this sport,” said lead coach, Casey Hnatiuk. The camp included conditioning training, water training and discussing the mental aspects of competing. For more information regarding Lyons Aquatics, visit www.LyonsAquatics.com.
