Lyons Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Stabbing

LYONS, IL – A 25-year-old Lyons man who attends Northern Illinois University is accused of stabbing a man in downtown DeKalb, according to media reports.

The suspect was identified as Lester E. Bowen, a sophomore who is studying history. He is charged with attempted murder.

Northern Star, the university's student newspaper, detailed the police report. The victim told police that the stabbing occurred after he spoke with a woman in a bar, the publication reported.

The newspaper said a judge cleared Bowen to continue attending his classes.
