Lyons Teacher Facing Attempted Murder Charges Placed On Leave
Rodriguez allegedly opened fire on a 25-year-old driver who reportedly hit Rodriquez as he was walking in Tinley Park in July 2017.

LYONS, IL — A teacher has been placed on administrative leave at Lyons School District 103 after it was found he is facing attempted murder charges. Andres Rodriguez, 40, was hired in August by the district, and taught sixth grade English at the school.
The Chicago Tribune reported interim Superintendent Patrick Patt had only found out about the charges last week.
Rodriguez allegedly opened fire on a 25-year-old driver who reportedly hit Rodriquez as he was walking in Tinley Park in July 2017. The victim, who survived the encounter, was shot in the stomach, side, back, arm and behind his ear. Rodriguez has been out on bond since the incident.

At the time of the incident, Rodriguez was a teacher at Joliet District 86, and then he continued to work as a substitute teacher at a middle school in Cicero before he was placed on leave at the school as well.
