Man Asks For Youths Near La Grange School: Cops

The youths said the man had a soccer ball in a box, police said. Authorities were informed three days later.

LA GRANGE, IL – A stranger with a soccer ball in a box summoned youths last week near a La Grange school, local police said.

About 4 p.m. Friday, the youths were close to Seventh Avenue Elementary School's soccer field at 50th Street and Eighth Avenue when the man showed up, according to a village news release.

The man pulled up his car on the wrong side of the street and asked the youths to come to him, police said. None of the youths approached the man or his car, according to the news release.

Seventh Avenue Elementary and La Grange police were told about the incident Monday morning.

The man was driving a four-door SUV with tinted windows, police said. He was described as older, white, and having black hair, a bald spot and a white beard.

Police said they would increase patrols around schools and parks in the area.
