Man Charged With Murder In La Grange Death
Judge says it appears suspect suffered a "psychotic break."

LA GRANGE, IL — A 25-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a La Grange man Friday, according to media reports. Authorities said DeAngelo Q. Hughes shot 51-year-old Curtis Clark five times in the head and torso, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The dispute happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Bluff Avenue in La Grange. Clark was the live-in boyfriend of Hughes' mother, police said. Clark was pronounced dead soon after the shooting.
Clark, a security guard, had dated Hughes' mother on and off for two decades, the Tribune said.

Cook County prosecutors said Hughes shot Clark after claiming Clark and a cousin were plotting to kill him, according to the Tribune. The newspaper also reported that Hughes alleged Clark needed a blood sacrifice for the secret society called the Illuminati.
Hughes, who smiled for his mugshot, was denied bail.

“It appears there may have been some kind of psychotic break, according to the information the state has received from family members that he was acting differently just prior to this incident,” Willis said in a court hearing Sunday, according to the Tribune.
