Man Shot In Back During Fight In La Grange: Cops

The offenders were no longer in the area when the officers arrived.

LA GRANGE, IL — A man was shot in the back on Friday night in La Grange, according to police. La Grange Police Department responded to Hayes and Calendar for a report of a gunshot victim at 11:19 p.m. June 29, police said.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man in a backyard with a gunshot wound to his side. Police said the man was conscious and was able to speak with officers. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

According to police, the offenders were no longer in the area when the officers arrived. Officers learned that there was a fight in the alleyway to the rear of a home in the 100 block of Hayes, between people who had been socializing. During the fight, the victim was shot in the back.

Police Chief Kurt Bluder said that because this was an isolated incident there appears to be no threat to the general public. The investigation is ongoing.
