Man Shouts Racial Slurs At La Grange Hospital: Cops

LA GRANGE, IL – A Hickory Hills man who struck a police officer at the La Grange hospital earlier this month was charged with aggravated battery, La Grange police said.

Luke Wroblewski, 42, was in the AdventHealth La Grange hospital after being arrested in a domestic battery incident in Hickory Hills, according to a police report that Patch obtained through a public records request.

In the early evening of June 9, a Hickory Hills officer was standing outside Wroblewski's patient room. Wroblewski, who was described as drunk, shouted racial slurs, the report said.

The officer told Wroblewski, whose left hand was secured by handcuffs, to stop yelling. With his free right hand, Wroblewski punched the officer on the right side of the face, police said.

The officer tried to push Wroblewski back and requested the hospital staff's help. While the staff was trying to restrain Wroblewski's right leg, he kicked someone, police said.

According to the report, Wroblewski said the officer put his elbow on his face. He said he grabbed the officer and said, "Hey, dude, you can't be doing that," police said.

Wroblewski also said he kicked someone with his left foot, police said.

He was out of the hospital within a day.
