Nazareth Academy Starts School Year With Orientation and a New Theme
Students return to La Grange Park Catholic high school for new school year.

LAGRANGE PARK, IL -- Nazareth Academy welcomed students back to school for the 2016-17 school year. Members of the Class of 2020 had already begun their high school journey with a two-day orientation the previous week.
The school year started strong with a message to faculty, staff and students about this year’s school theme of Lighting Our World…That All May Be One. Over the course of the year, through teaching, activities, service and reflection, all members of the Nazareth community will have ample opportunities to put this theme into action.
“This year’s theme reminds us that we are called to be the light of the world. We believe the best way to do this is to begin right here, in our families and at Nazareth Academy. Our efforts this year continue to focus on the importance of respect; respect for each and every person as we recognize and celebrate the gifts, talents and individual differences that make us all stronger and better when combined together,” principal Deborah Tracy said.
In addition to students, the Catholic high school welcomed eight new faculty/staff members, including several Nazareth alumni: Juan Centeno (Spanish), Andrew De Leonardis (Religion and Campus Ministry), Patricia Filomeno ‘84 (Science), Jennifer Gerdes (English), Matt Letcher ’09 (Religion), Heather Lindgren (Math), Sean Pearson ’91 (PE/Health and Head Boys Basketball Coach). Janet Rausch ’91 also takes on a new role at Nazareth, where she will serve as Campus Minister.
