No Virus Deaths In La Grange Since Early June: Stats

No one younger than 68 has died from the coronavirus in La Grange, according to the medical examiner's office.

LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange has not had one death from the coronavirus since June 9, and all 13 people who have died are 68 or older, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Cook County Public Health Department's coronavirus numbers for La Grange also include unincorporated La Grange Highlands, which the agency did not make apparent until recently. La Grange Patch has been using the health department's numbers all along. In an email, the department said it was unable to determine La Grange cases from those in La Grange Highlands.

As of Sunday, La Grange and La Grange Highlands have a combined 380 cases, up from 353 a week earlier. That amounts to an 8 percent hike.

As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had 19.9 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 11.7 in Darien, 12.6 in Western Springs, 12.7 in La Grange Park, 14 in Elmhurst, 14.6 in Clarendon Hills, 15.8 in DuPage County, 17.5 in Hinsdale, 19.5 in Burr Ridge and 20.4 in suburban Cook County.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 233,355, up 6 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 8,019 state residents.

Nationally, 5.9 million people have caught the virus, up 1 percent from the week before. A total of 182,149 people have died from the virus in the United States.
