North Riverside Elementary School Closes Due To Flu Outbreak
A North Riverside elementary school has announced it will be closed for the rest of the week due to a flu outbreak.

NORTH RIVERSIDE, IL — A North Riverside elementary school has announced it will be closed for the rest of the week due to a flu outbreak. Komarek School will be closed through Feb. 2 and will reopen on Feb. 5.
In a letter on the school's website, Superintendent Brian Ganan announced the school's closing.
"After disinfecting the school this past weekend, we still had a high number of students and staff sent home sick with flu like symptoms," Ganan said in the letter. "This is coupled with the very high amount of students who were called in sick prior to the school day."

Ganan continued to say the school will remain closed so it can be professionally disinfected and so students with the flu can get healthy again.
After school activities will also be postponed at the school; this includes sporting events and a planned choir concert.

According to the letter, the school will most likely be open on Presidents Day and on the Monday after spring break.
It's not the first school to close this year due to the flu. The Illinois Math & Science Academy in Aurora was closed for a full week due to an outbreak earlier this month.
