Now that it is safe to say that the Polar Vortex is finally over, we should expect temperatures to begin to rise and begin to get HOT!
Speaking of HOT, the La Grange area real estate market sure is HOT right now. Here are some great stats - according to the Multiple Listing Service, the average home prices in La Grange increased .8% from last year. But the number of homes on the market is DOWN 20% from last year. Two years ago there were 94 homes on the market in La Grange and today there are only 55. In LaGrange Park, two years ago there were 60 homes for sale and now there are only 35.
So what does that mean? It means that if you are interested in selling your home now is a heck of a time to do it. Mortgage rates are still low, inventory of homes is low and our schools are still some of the best in the country. Simply put - people want to be in La Grange or in the greater La Grange Area. Being voted by Chicago Magazine as one of the best places to live helps, but we all knew how great of an area this is right?
Back to real estate - The local housing market drives so many other local businesses - painters, carpenters, re-modelers, restaurants, cabinet makers, lighting stores, hardware stores and of course your favorite local Realtor! All of these industries and so many more are dependent on the real estate market. Each of these folks employ local people and spend money in local businesses keeping the economic health of our area strong.
